Manifestations of Colonial Violence

Manifestations of Colonial Violence: Accounts from Survivors of Residential Schools and Indigenous Child Welfare Policies
Featuring Colleen Cardinal and John Moses:
Colleen Cardinal will be speaking on the Sixties Scoop/Indigenous Child Removals, what it is, who it impacted, how it impacted and its connection to ongoing violence, racism and contemporary issues affecting Indigenous peoples today. Colleen will also be speaking on the grassroots organizing of adoptee gatherings, rallies and educational awareness being done by the National Indigenous Survivors of Child Welfare.
John Moses will be speaking on his late father Russ's residential school memoir, written in 1965. This memoir recounts the conditions his father endured at the Mohawk Institute Indian Residential School in Brantford Ontario, which he attended from 1942-1947.
